Life will never be the same. This statement can scare us or it can motivate us to take the lessons we learned and let them be a part of us to help shape the future of society.
It's currently day 15 of California's Stay at Home order that began on March 19, 2020, and during my time physically distancing and limiting my time outdoors, I have to admit I'm going a bit stir crazy thinking about what I want to do when this is over.
What I've learned and reflected on these past 15 days:
Sleeping in on a weekday is glorious!
Writer's block is a real thing, even with a whole day of free time
I can stare at my phone or computer for hours on-end without knowing
Taking time to move, taking a walk or doing a quick at home exercise, makes a world of difference
We are ALL experiencing this together
Even though we are physically distant, I feel as though my community is closer than ever. There is a big push to shop local and help the San Diego community thrive during this time and when it is all over
I can wake up motivated to take on the world, and other days I wake up not wanting to do anything. I learned to give myself grace in whatever state I wake up
Things I cannot wait to do when this is lifted (in no particular order):
Hugging people again!
Enjoying coffee and pastries at a local coffee shop
Sitting down at one of my favorite restaurants, or one that I've been wanting to try, for an amazing meal
Walking on the beach
Hiking Torrey Pines
Walking into a grocery store knowing they'll have toilet paper and all the other wonderful things I took for granted
Travel the world
The most important lesson I am learning during this time is that life is not guaranteed and the things we took for granted, no matter how small like toilet paper, should be celebrated.
I know, I just said to celebrate toilet paper, but think about it! What else would we do to maintain proper hygiene, especially if bidets aren't available?
I'm just saying, take joy in everything in life, even if they seem mundane and small. There's not telling if or when they will be taken from us.
I cannot wait to see you on the other side of this!
